Scarla ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy describes how we collect, use, and share your data when you use the Scarla mobile application.

Information We Collect

Scarla works without an account. If you use the app as a guest, we process only the technical data needed to run the service (such as anonymous identifiers for playback, purchases, and app diagnostics).

If you choose to create an optional account, we collect:

• Your email address, an optional display name, and encrypted credentials (or your Apple / Google sign-in identifier if you use Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In)
• Your listening data, so it can follow you across devices: listening progress, saved and finished audiobooks, bookmarks, listening stats, and taste preferences
• Your subscription or purchase status (managed by Apple; we never see or store your payment details)
• Notification preferences and a device push token, only if you enable notifications
• A referral code and referral activity, if you use the invite feature

We also collect anonymized in-app usage events (for example which screens are used) to improve the app. Our website (scarla.app) uses Google Analytics (GA4) to measure aggregate, anonymized traffic; this website analytics is separate from the app data above and is not used to identify you personally.

Service Providers We Use

Scarla runs on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf:

• Apple: all payments and subscriptions are processed by Apple In-App Purchase; Sign in with Apple if you choose it; push notification delivery
• RevenueCat: manages subscription status so your purchase unlocks content (receives your purchase state and an account identifier, never your payment details)
• Google: Google Sign-In if you choose it; Google Analytics on the website only
• Cloudflare: hosts our servers, database, and audio delivery
• Resend: sends transactional email such as password-reset codes

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Account creation and management
• Service delivery
• Customer support
• Marketing communications (opt-in only)
• Improving the app experience

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following circumstances:

• With your consent
• To fulfill legal obligations
• With service providers under strict confidentiality agreements

Cookies and Analytics

The website at scarla.app uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-Z4BS21E1P5) with Google Consent Mode v2. Analytics storage is denied by default. In the EU, EEA and UK a cookie banner asks for your choice before any analytics cookies are set; elsewhere analytics is enabled on load. When you accept analytics, Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga, _ga_* and _gid to measure visits. We do not use advertising cookies. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the "Cookie settings" control in the footer of any page.

Security of Your Information

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can delete your account at any time directly in the app: open the Profile tab and choose Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account data and returns the app to a fresh-install state. You can also contact us at the address below and we will remove your data in accordance with applicable law.
